McGregor’s Child Care is currently looking for a Special Needs ECE Educator for our 3-5 program.  This is a unionized permanent full-time position with benefits after successfully passing the probationary period. 

Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the Special Needs ECE Educator provides direct supports to the staff, families and children of those children who require extra supports.  The Special Needs Educator is expected to work with all children in the program.  The position is accountable for ensuring all day-to-day operations are met including operating within licencing and legal requirements, completing scheduled shift duties and the successful integration of children into a group child care setting.

Qualifications:

Basic ECE

Additional Qualifications:

  • A current License to Practice that includes the following;
    • Early Childhood Educator
    • Special Needs Educator
  • A clear Criminal Record Check must be obtained.
  • Current Infant/Child First Aid Certificate
  • 2 years’ experience working with children in a child care setting
  • Proof of immunization
  • Positive team player; flexible, punctual, reliable with good communication skills

Salary & Benefits:

$23.63 - $ 25.47/hr, plus Wage Enhancement for those who qualify.   

                Additionally, this position is intitled to health benefits and a pension plan.

Additional Information:

  • Working with the staff team and other professional supports, promote the integration of child requiring extra supports.
  • Informs Supervisor and Regular staff of all requirements, routines and approaches specific to children in the program who require special supports.
  • Establish strong working relationships and coordinate supports with all professionals connected with the child and his/her family.
  • In cooperation with outside agencies, design and implement child and family goals to fit child’s needs.
  • Implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of individual children and groups of children.
  • Prepare written observations, reports, and assessments.
  • Attend all meetings as required.
  • Practicum supervisor for students as required.
  • Follow all McGregor policies, procedures, Licensing, and legal requirements.
  • Interact directly with all children, providing quality care and creative programming.
  • Establish and maintain positive daily communication and interactions with children, families, and staff.
  • Ensure all safety and supervision standards are implemented and maintained.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the centre, children, families, and staff.
  • Complete all required daily shift duties with efficiency.
  • Work cooperatively as a member of a team in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Preform other duties as directed.
