Standing Strong Together

South Island Branch

We acknowledge that our branch gathers and operates on the unceded ancestral territories of the Lekwungen and WSÁNEĆ peoples of the Songhees and Esquimalt nations. Our branch seeks to support early childhood educators and communities practicing on the unceded ancestral territories of neighbouring nations of the T’Sou-ke, Beecher Bay, Tsartlip, Tsawout, Pauquachin, Tseycum and Malahat peoples.

We are proud to support the mission and vision of ECEBC and to liaise regularly with the Board of Directors and staff.

One of the perks of ECEBC Membership is you can belong to your local chapter. Not a member? Find out more about the benefits.

Get To Know The South Island Branch

The branch was established over 20 years ago. Originally it was called the ECEBC Victoria Branch. In 2019 we changed the name of our branch to ECEBC South Island Branch to be more inclusive of a broader geographical region.

The executive for the South Island Branch meets monthly to plan professional development, advocacy, and networking opportunities for the branch. We hold a yearly meeting when we invite local members of ECEBC to help us to plan for the coming year. This meeting and the ideas generated allow us to support local ECEBC members in meaningful ways.

Some highlights include two networking events, a community of practice engaging with the Early Learning Framework (BC, 2019), a flash mob and supporting ELC student-organized events. We actively seek out ways to engage local members of ECEBC and the broader ECE community by maintaining a website, dedicated branch email, Facebook page and a blog.
