Positive Guidance (online course)
Positive Guidance, is an online workshop provided in partnership between Red River College and ECEBC.

Guiding is a broad concept that includes a variety of strategies including understanding, encouraging, leading, steering, teaching, mentoring, supporting, exploring and goal setting. This session will provoke participants to reflect on their current practices, to learn from others and to consider new ways to guide and support children.

Topics include:
• Child Rights
• Relationships and communication
• Self-regulation
• Aggression and lying
• Friendship and getting along with peers
• Approaches to positive guidance

Participants will watch videos of children around the world, hear from experts discussing the topics, do short readings and play interactive review games.

Participants will “meet” in online discussions, guided by a facilitator, to hear each other’s ideas, reflect on and apply what they learn.

Participants access the content at times that are most convenient for them between November 10 and 23.

Level of Learning: Intermediate (suggested prerequisite: ECE diploma)

Course instructors from Royal Roads College will be in touch with course participants to respond to questions and provide orientation approximately two days before the course begins.
