BC Government Announces New Investment in Child Care

Published: July 3rd, 2026

The Province of B.C. has secured a multi-billion-dollar agreement with the Federal Government that funds transportation, clean energy, commits to strengthening child care, workforce training, and protecting B.C.’s north coast tanker ban.

Premier Eby stated “This agreement is about building B.C.’s future – not just for this year, but for generations to come. It means more good jobs for workers and more opportunities to train for better pay, all while protecting the beautiful places that make our province so remarkable.”

The agreement advances shared commitments to workforce training and child care and includes over $630 million for affordable child care in British Columbia.

ECEBC are heartened to see this continued commitment and await specific details on the BC plan regarding child care investments and will continue to call for the creation of a sustainable system of early childhood education that is inclusive and allows all children and educators to flourish.
