Early Childhood Educator

Red Wagon is seeking a nurturing and energetic Early Childhood Educator!

We are looking to fill a full-time position, one-year maternity leave, with potential to extend the role for the right candidate.  Our high-quality play-based program operates Monday thru Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm following the SD#19 calendar. The program is closed for two weeks at winter break, two weeks at spring break and closed during July & August. This role is ideal for someone who has children of their own or someone who wants to have work life balance with 12 weeks off per year. Position is effective from Sept 2026 thru June 2027.

Educators share responsibility for daily care and unique programming in our licensed childcare programs working with children 30 months to 8 years old. The ideal candidate will be outgoing and have a love for learning through play. Educators will work collaboratively to develop and plan an inclusive program that supports all aspects of early childhood development.

• Hold a valid Early Childhood Educator Certificate issued by BC ECE Registry
• Valid First Aid Certificate
• Minimum 1 year experience working with children
• Clear Criminal Record Check
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Commitment to ongoing professional development

Salary & Benefits:

Total wage compensation dependent upon qualifications and experience ranging from $28.00 to $30.00/hour.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate and inclusive program that consists of structure and predictability of daily flow. A program that balances free play and exploration with group learning and togetherness, while using inquiry based emergent curriculum.
• Recognize that we honour First Peoples Principles of Learning by gathering as a group, recognizing generational roles and responsibilities and acknowledging that learning involves patience and time for both adults and children.
• Play! Engage children in activities including open ended exploration of materials, our environment, as well as storytelling, sharing songs and rhymes
• Effective communication with families, Educators and the Manager of Care as well as team collaborators such as Supported Child Development, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists and Speech Language Pathologists
• Implement centre philosophy and policies as per licensing regulations including daily reports and record keeping through our Lillio app
