ABOUT SCHOOL OF ROCK VANCOUVER

Coming Fall 2022 to Vancouver! Performance-based music education programs combine one-on-one lessons with group band practices, making School of Rock the ultimate music school for kids & adults! For over a decade, School of Rock has taught guitar, bass, drums, vocals, and keys through an innovative performance-based method. Students go through a series of private lessons and group rehearsals and then get to show off what they learn on real rock stages to real rock audiences. ABOUT THE LITTLE WINGS PROGRAM

At School of Rock Vancouver our Little Wing music program for preschoolers and toddlers teaches students foundational music skills by playing games and participating in other interactive musical activities. Little Wing students have one weekly group music lesson in which they use classic rock songs to learn about rhythm, song structure, melody and dynamics through play.

 

ABOUT THE JOB

The Little Wings Music Instructor is an integral part of the School of Rock team, teaching students from 3-6 years old foundational music skills trough interactive and fun group lessons centred around classic rock music. While creating a safe and cool environment for students to achieve their musical and creative potential, the Little Wings Instructor ensures that each School of Rock student has an exceptional musical journey. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES


Music Instruction:

  • Deliver lessons using the School of Rock Methodologies and curriculum 
  • Document and report on student progress in School of Rock systems at the end of each lesson
  • Create and maintain a safe, friendly and positive learning environment
  • Create and document thoughtful lesson plans
  • Attend and successfully complete all required training
  • Attend and participate in occasional meetings, as well as seasonal events and shows 

Customer Connection:

  • Communicate regularly with parents and admin on progress of students after lessons
  • Interact with parents and students regularly by being visible and accessible in the school
  • Assist in rehearsals and basic maintenance in school
  • Adhere to the SOR Code of Conduct, safety policies, including the Monitoring and Supervision policy. 

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • 2 + years of experience teaching and/or working with children under 6 years old
  • Certificate in ECE (Early Childhood Education) is required (or working towards completion)
  • Experience and understanding of music fundamentals with the ability to play a variety of instruments
  • Education in or knowledge of music theory is an asset
  • An understanding of how to engage an audience; Experience in theatre, dance, or vocals is a plus but not required
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to deal well with a wide range of people
  • An effective communicator regarding the values and benefits of the Little Wings program in an inspiring way
  • Demonstrate a warm command of the lesson room and be capable of communicating students’ musical progress to parents
  • Enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and positive demeanor, with a passion for teaching
  • Excellent team player who loves to collaborate with others
  • A criminal record background check is required and is a condition of employment
  • This position is entirely in-person at our Vancouver location. No remote work is available.
  • This is a Part-Time position, with daytime and afternoon / evening shifts. Shift length, times and days are subject to change and may vary depending on lesson schedules and student numbers.
