Update - December 2010
The Early Childhood Educators of BC student bursary program is a partnership between ECEBC and the Vancity Community Foundation, with funds provided by the provincial government’s Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD).
As of Summer 2010 we regrettably had to suspend our student bursary program due to an increase in student bursary awards and the subsequent expension of bursary funds provided by the Ministry of Children and Family Development. Since that time, ECEBC has had meetings with MCFD to discuss the merits of ECEBC’s bursary program and the possibility of a renewed funding agreement. Both parties agreed that the bursary program has been successful, with the promise of continuing dialogue about the future of continuing the program. We have been informed that the Ministry is unable to renew its funding commitment at this time, but has indicated that this decision will be reviewed for the 2011/2012 fiscal year.
We thank you for your kind letters of support for the bursary program and are optimistic that your support will provide added impetus to the Ministry of Children and Family Development to consider renewing its funding agreement in the new fiscal year.
